Choosing a shed - The Garden Room Company

Based just outside York, The Garden Room Company is a sister brand to The Stable Company which has been designing stables, barns and bespoke timber buildings for over 30 years. It has two main models, the Duo (pictured above and below) and the Mono. The Duo has a double pitch with cedar shingle roof and comes in 12 sizes from 7.5m2 up to 17.3m2. The model featured here is a garden office in London, 4.8m x 3m and a bespoke top hung tilting window on the gable end plus decking to the front and left. Inside the walls and ceiling are lined with fine plaster cream panels and the floor covered with a natural oak effect laminate. Doors and windows are fitted with wooden venetian blinds. The Mono is, unsurprisingly, single pitched and comes with a metal roof for better thermal insulation. There are small but nicely put together photo galleries of actual installations for both models.

Interestingly, no concrete slab is needed as each model uses specially designed pad foundation and levelling feet around the perimeter of the building to support the timber floor. The ground underneath is covered with a preventative weed membrane and topped with gravel.
