Unclutterer - workspace of the week

I've recently been enjoying Unclutterer which describes itself as a blog about "getting and staying organized. A place for everything, and everything in its place is our gospel." Of particular interest to shedworkers is the regular Workspace of the week posting. Above is sirw82’s Home Office 2.0 which is one of many other interesting workspaces at the Unclutterer Flickr pool. Well worth a browse.

I have to say that I find all these uncluttered desks both compelling and a bit scary. Every so often I have a massive desk tidy but within twelve hours stuff creeps back. The last scourge was on Saturday when I installed a new computer. However, a brief census of my desk at the moment reveals: wallet, three pens, one pencil, two telephones, one pair of sunglasses, one pair of reading glasses, one glasses case, one empty cufflink box, one camera, two books (Organic Gardening the No Dig Way and Salmon fishing in the Yemen), copies of Interiors, Gardeners World and Gardens Illustrated, Post it notes on pad, post it notes off pad, five notebooks of various sizes, two folders, two drawings, one dirty tea cup, car keys, Liz Earle's Good Shave Guide and a free giveaway copy of Slade's Greatest Hits (donated by my mother).
I hope that somewhere there is a Flickr Group for the terminally cluttered.

  2. Yes, it feels rather unreal to me too. My desk has much the same kind of contents list - papers, books, CDs, cidermaking paraphenalia, small coffee maker, some magazines, a few crayons and Thunderbird 3.
