The Mad Housers

The Mad Housers is an Atlanta-based non-profit group which aims to provide shelter for the homeless and develop low income housing. They build two types of structures for the homeless, wooden huts with sleeping loft and woodburning stove (pictured above) and low riders (pictured below). which are rather less conspicuous and come with a separate storage unit as they're quite a bit smaller as well as a small porch.

I am a volunteer with MadHousers here in Atlanta GA in the states. We do provide these to the area homeless for free. No strings attached. We have been doing this for 20 years now. I know that the designs seem small but for someone who has been living outdoors it provides them a place to get out of the weather and keep their belongings rather than have to tote them about wherever they go.
Personally I love what I do and feel that it is a very direct way of addressing the problem of homelessness in the area. If you have any questing please visit our website at madhousers.org

  2. I think you're doing a great job - as you say, it's not the size that matters, it's what it represents.
