The Shedworker's Bookshelf - Beach Huts and Bathing Machines

Kathryn Ferry is arguably our leading expert on beach huts so it's very pleasing to see this new book of hers, Beach Huts and Bathing Machines, from Shire. In its bijou 64 pages - hopefully we'll see a longer book on the subject from her soon - it tells the story of the iconic seaside building from its days as a mobile bathing machine in the 1730s through its heyday and into the 21st century. As well as looking at design and development it includes a useful gazeteer. Well worth £5.99 of anyone's money.
