HSBC goes down the shedworking route

According to The Times, HSBC will halve it's Canary Wharf workforce by encouraging 4,000 of them to work from home (or 'on the road'). Chief executive Michael Geoghegan is reported as saying: "I don’t think we’re a really progressive, perceptive company if 8,000 people have to get up every day at an unearthly hour and go back again. Technology should change our thought process.” Some wag on the Time's website suggests that homeworkers could sublet their home office to HSBC...
