James McConnachie is the author of The Rough Guide to Sex which Zoe Strimpel in The Observer called “a comprehensive, fearless book, part socio-history and part manual… One of the most refreshing, and valuable, aspects of the book is its feminism”. In an interview with Tanya Enberg in the
London Free Press McConnachie, who has also written about Nepal and France, talks about the process of putting the book together. Indeed, Enberg says that: McConnachie spent long hours writing alone in his garden office, which one friend promptly dubbed "the masturbatorium."
