Glide Pod wins Red Dot design award

Congratulations to the team at Halifax-based Pod Space whose Glide Pod, which features a sliding louvered screen, has been received a prestigious Red Dot international design award. Here's what Pod Space say about the design:

This elegantly designed, ecologically minded studio which can be used as an additional living area or as an office, for instance, is entirely made of natural materials. The rib-like elements of Siberian larch create an eye-catching contrast to the black composite cladding. The flashings are individually made by hand. The use of innovative technology allows for the incorporation of a slimline sliding screen and tall, frameless windows to offer users maximum light and an uninterrupted view as well as solar screening and privacy.

The design of the Glide Pod studio appeals because of its versatility and naturalness. It also meets high aesthetic requirements
