An appeal to safeguard film-maker and artist Derek Jarman's former Victorian fisherman's hut and garden in Dungeness is underway, led by the Art Fund (more details at the link - they're about halfway there as it stands with a couple of months to go). The campaign aims to raise £3.5 million to secure the future of the cottage and its iconic garden as a centre of creative
activity. The plan will be overseen by
Creative Folkestone who will also restore the garden and run a residency programme for artists, writers, gardeners,
filmmakers, academics, and activists. The cottage will also be open to the public for visits.
