Treehouses: Small Spaces in Nature

The marvellous treehouse specialists Baumraum have published their own book of their lovely designs. It comes in at 290 pages with more than 450 photos of 30 finished treehouse projects around the world and is available in both German and English. The book includes a look at the history of building treehouses and the engineering behind the designs. The book is written by Baumraum founder Andreas Wenning and is available from Dom Publishers.

We've covered Baumraum before on Shedworking but this design, although a specifically meditation and relaxation space rather than a shedworking one, looks more garden office-like than the previous work we've seen on the site before.

Treehouses for adults

A nice piece by Tessa Williams in the Daily Telegraph looks at treehouses for adults. Namechecks for suppliers which will be familiar to Shedworking readers including Baumraum and Free Spirit Spheres.Henry Durham, of High Life Treehouses, is quoted as saying:

"Customers use them as offices, studios and even as an extra bedroom. We built one recently with a log burner and chimney. Fireproofing was a headache, but the effect is magical."

Well worth a browse and look out for a nice little gallery of photos.
