Hempcrete garden studio

An interesting naturally-built garden office for Belgian architects Van Laethem Architecten which they built for themselves using cedar shingles and hempcrete. It happily fits in at least three members of the team and features a lower section of red brick cladding, a floor made out of recycled foam glass, and a large built-in desk. UK Men’s Sheds Association to recruit a new Chief Executive Officer

The UK Men’s Sheds Association (UKMSA) is looking for a new inspirational CEO to lead the hugely important national charity through the next stage of its development after six years with Charlie Bethel in the role. Rooftop garden building

This is very much in the running for the most elegant design we've seen this year, what architects and builders Eckford Chong call the Wapping Cedar Glass House. It's located on the rooftop of a property beside the Thames in London, erected on site from a prefabricated kit made in the architects' workshop.

Size is always a key consideration when choosing a shedlike construction but even keyer than usual as no part of the build could be any larger than 2.2 m because of the size of the lift in the building (the whole thing is 8m2. The frame is Red cedar which will gently turn grey with the passing of the years.

Monty Don's 2025 Chelsea Flower Show garden

The announcement that Monty Don - whose writing shed has featured on these pages several times -  will be putting together a garden design for the first time for the RHS Chelsea Flower Show next year has not unreasonably focused mostly on the fact that it will be dog-friendly.

But what caught the eye of the Shedworking staff was that the design, inspired by Don's own Longmeadow which regularly features on BBC's Gardener's World television series and pictured above, will also include a summerhouse, or as the RHS put it: "The lawn drifts into longer grass planted with ornamental spring flowering bulbs to create a tameflower, rather than wildflower meadow. Brick paths run straight creating vistas – a touch of Monty Don’s own Longmeadow garden – with one providing the route through the garden for visitors and another leading to the summerhouse." We will watch the design develop with interest and report back here.

This Billy-Oh sale ends tomorrow (Tuesday) at midnight so if you're interested you'll have to get your skates on.
