Vintage Palace: shedworker

Vintage Palace is run by Stacy Star who offers a wide range of vintage fashion and accessories from her back garden shed shop in Eureka. As reported in The Northern Star by Ava Benny-Morrison, the shed is a "vibrant, antique-infused, vintage wonderland" where you are offered a glass of champagne on entering and then guided to a velvet lounge (a must for all garden offices). Here's a snippet:

The former Sydney resident has transformed her boring old shed by draping it in clothing from the 1920s to the 1960s.. Stepping into the Vintage Palace feels like stepping into a whirlwind of sequins, lace, silk and velvet. As extravagant as it sounds, Ms Star also keeps it local by trading at markets around the region.

Moreover, when the sun goes down the shed doubles as a nightclub and music studio.

Shoebox Auction and Exhibition

Shoebox Auction and Exhibition is a tiny shedlike collection hosted by Kids Company and The Bryan Adams Foundation. They've managed to get the biggest names in modern art to design a shoebox-sized version of a room from their childhood (pictured above is Tim Braben's). Not only a very worthy cause - Kids Company provides practical, emotional and educational support to vulnerable inner-city children and young people in London - but well worth a browse.

A marvellous design from Garden Buildings Direct. It's impressively roomy with an upstairs bunk area, two large downstairs rooms, stable door, and nice window boxes.

Bathing Beauties exhibition in Scarborough

The Bathing Beauties exhibition has moved to Scarborough Art Gallery where it will be 'Re-imagining the Beach Hut for the 21st Century' until May 9. Longstanding readers of Shedworking will know all about it but for those still to encounter this marvellous show here's some information:

"This exhibition is an innovative and engaging look at the architecture of beach hut design. It evolved from the Bathing Beauties, a Hub touring exhibition which inspired 240 architects, artists and designers from 15 countries to compete for commissions to build their 21st century designs on the Lincolnshire coast. The best 100 models will be on show here in Scarborough."

Flexa Studio

The rather attractive Flexa Studio comes from Houseplans.com and if it looks slightly familiar then that's maybe because Modern Cabana's creative director Casper Mork-Ulnes developed the design. It's a 10ft x 12ft shedworking atmosphere and comes as a pre-fab or kit, uses FSC wood and has recycled denim insulation, sliding glass doors: they call it "the little building that can". There's a really nice blog to go alongside it too with lots more photos.
