Paul Barton from Roomworks has been in touch with updates on some of the green roofs they've added to shedworkers' garden offices around the country.
"It's a great time for all those living roof systems we installed," he says, " particularly the meadow flower one you can see at the top of this selection of images which has bees and butterflies all over it. Later in the season
of course, the meadow flowers die back and require maintenance which is why
we tend to use sedum varieties, which do flower but still look great later in the year. Sedum also requires very little maintenance.
"More and more people are now aware of the many and varied benefits of a living roof and we are always delighted when our clients ask us to install one.
We even donated one to one of our National Trust projects last year and they were so grateful they made us a cake."

Sedum roofing is a great way at massively insulating your cabin, log cabin, timber building etc. if you are looking at keeping your garden green it is 100% the way to go!
ReplyDeleteI've read a couple of articles on tips about roofing. This post is different. Thanks to writer and want to say: keep on.
ReplyDeleteReally like the idea of the living roof as they look good and will attract wildlife.
ReplyDeleteJust wondering how do you maintain the height of the grass?
Look great although I imagine the damp proofing must be so important to stop any ingress of water from the roof, specially in the wetter climates such as the UK.
