Starling Cycles: Born in a shed

Congratulations to Starling Cycles which is celebrating 10 years of operation since aerospace engineer Joe McEwan set out to produce mountain bike frames from his shed in Bristol (pictured above).

"I had a busy aerospace job and two young kids," he writes, "and I loved escaping to my garden shed in the evenings to unwind. I went on a frame building course, I began hoovering up all the equipment I could find, kitting out the shed and making frames for my kids. It was a tiny, but lovely space and the business is named after the birds that hang around in the trees overhead."

Starling now operates from a dedicated workshop space as Joe explains in the excellent video below.
