Phoenix Garden Office (early version)

The lovely Phoenix Garden - privately managed by volunteers as a community garden and environmental space - is in a spectacularly urban location in London's West End, off the Charing Cross Road. Here's what they say about it:

"Founded in the early 1980s, we are a privately managed charity and work to maintain the garden as a quiet retreat from the stresses of the city and to provide the necessary habitat to support and encourage urban wildlife."
