The shed, though not always a shed, sometimes a "birdhouse" (as Emin calls it), sometimes a playhouse, fort or treehouse, in contemporary art, is what I'm writing my thesis on right now. And you were right to choose Emin as shed obsessed. I'm glad to see other's have picked up on this trend. It was The other flower show that sparked my interest in this topic to begin with. And in response to the other posts, the many manifestations, perhaps deconstruction, of the shed in art, is never really one that suggests the shed as we know it to be art, but rather the shed, as a structure that provides living, working, and storage space, becomes a place onto which the artist can project ideas. The shed as a storage space can also act as a metaphor, for the mind, and can become a place to store memories and fantasies- emin is my major example for this claim. hopefully this makes sense. Thanks for the post!Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-35485673.post-69948496675203310782007-03-08T13:05:00.000+00:002007-03-08T13:05:00.000+00:00How true.
