What to wear in your garden office: Banyan

In this wintry weather, the topic of how to keep warm in your garden office is especially important. As regular readers will know, the Shedworking staff likes nothing better than putting on its smoking jacket to keep the chills away. Recently we have been chatting with writer and shedworker Alex Beecroft who has decided to keep the cold away by making her own banyan (pictured above), an 18th century gentleman’s house coat.

Alex has written up how she did it in three parts - the first is here, the second is here, and the third is here. Although there are some tricky elements - sewing silk is obviously a bit awkward - we think she's done a tremendous job. She is now considering make a hat to go with it.

Below is where Alex writes.
