So how do you like it?

As you can see, we have been doing some fiddling with the design of Shedworking. Up top is our favourite garden office, George Bernard Shaw's writing hut. There are now three columns of fun to (hopefully) help declutter things. And we've changed some colours a bit. And a few bits of typeface. And the static pages just below the main picture (but they've been there for a few days now). And some other things which we didn't mean to do and are still trying to work out how to get back but we won't mention those. So, how do you like it? Nothing's writ in stone so your comments are very welcome indeed.

  1. I like it. Three columns works well and the whole thing feels light and outdoorsy, but should the header image be a bit wider?

  4. @Chris - Yes, you're right, it's not full width. I tried it wider but I quite like it this way. Feels more monumental. Maybe.

@Woody - Thank you. Especially for the comment about the content. That is after all the most important bit.

@James - Thanks. I tried to get one of a shedlike construction on wheels but couldn't find one anywhere...

  5. "... monumental. Maybe." is as good an explanation as I need. Nice job.

  6. The new masthead photo is a huge improvement. I haven't quite put my finger on the reason, but overall the look-and-feel seems a bit more cluttered to me. I shouldn't really throw that out there without a more analytical look at things, but hey, I always like to stir the pot a bit.

    Keep up the great work!

It's a good layout and I feel like I get more meat and fewer potatoes now.

  8. much improved, but most blog designs are suffering from the same problem, now that monitors are 16:9 proportions for movies yet our blogs are designed for 800 pixel wide vga monitors. I think the pictures are too small.

Have a look at www.mocoloco.com. Harry has redesigned for the iphone and ipad, and for the new proportions of monitors. It takes some getting used to (and needs some refinement) but I think it is the future. we have to follow the shape of our monitors and go horizontal, that is where the real estate is.
