Icy four-day queues for beach huts

According to The Independent, today marked the end of a four day queue in sub-zero temperatures for prospective beach hut owners after one of the wooden huts on Avon Beach, Mudeford, Dorset: they can only be had annually on a first-come, first-served basis and cannot be slept in, although they do have a folding table and a cupboard, plus two deckchairs as well as nice views of the Isle of Wight. Leases range from £590 up to £775 with shorter six-week arrangements at £400.
