Wexler Studio Week - The Vinyl Milford

We finish Wexler Studio Week with a truly unique shedlike atmosphere which the designers call a suburban backyard survival kit. The Vinyl Milford, a mass produced metal storage shed, is here transformed into a complete guest house, but because it's too small for a bed, bath, kitchen, dining room, etc, there are specially-shaped bulges where you can keep it all tucked handily away, what the Wexlers describe as "ghost-like forms" of the furniture on the outside. Pull out a chair when you need it, then tuck it away when you want a siesta on the pull-out bed.

  1. This building was first profiled in Les Walker's "A Little House of My Own: 47 Grand Designs for 47 Tiny Houses," copyrighted in 1987 & 2000 and published under a couple of different (but similar) titles. It's sort of the Old Testament gospel of the shed/tiny house movement.
