Shedworking vs loftworking

Lynn Fotheringham of Inside Out Buildings says time is running out for the loft conversion. On her The Office In The Garden blog she writes that regulations for staircases have got tougher and there are proposals for needing a metre of roof above and a metre of roof below any loft window. She says:
"Soon it will be almost impossible to meet the building regulation requirements to build a loft conversion. [My partner Gordon, who is an architect is glad. He has always thought that loft conversions are one of the most difficult and messy ways of extending your home.] However, boring though it may, the garden building buying bloke and blokess do need to wise up to building regulations so that they don't end up with a building in the garden that affects the sale of their house because the building has been constructed with inadequate insulation, double glazing etc.
